The Haemovores are a race of humanoid creatures from an alternate future.

There are two known types of haemovores. One type was similar to a pale human with feral features and sharp claws. They can speak and act normally, but they have a more predatorial mindset. The other type was a blue, lumpy humanoid with suckers covering their face and body. They are seemingly mindless and only follow the orders of the Ancient One. The haemovores wore whatever clothes they "died" in.

It’s unknown what the exact connection is between the two types, but the older haemovores were of the lumpier variety, which would imply that they change form with age. As well, the oldest haemovore (the Ancient One) was the most deformed.

In both forms, the haemovores were known to have abnormal strength and power. They can survive indefinitely underwater, had some psychic powers and can melt through metal with their hands. They can also drain blood (which sometimes turns the victim into another haemovore, but sometimes just kills them). The haemovores can be stopped with strong faith, which can create a psychic barrier.

The haemovores were the descendants of humans from an alternate future. In that version of Earth, the world was polluted and dying. The haemovores were the mutated result of the pollution. The most powerful of these haemovores was the Ancient One. The Ancient One was taken out of its time by Fenric, who planned to capture the Doctor. Due to the Doctor's actions, this polluted future was probably prevented from existing, which means the haemovores are effectively extinct. (DW:The Curse of Fenric)

The haemovores are not to be confused with the Great Vampires, which have some of the same traits.
