Season 14 (Doctor Who 1963)

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

The fourteenth season of Doctor Who ran between 4th September 1976 and 2nd April 1977. It consisted of 6 serials and 26 episodes. The season is notable for the departure of Sarah Jane Smith, the only complete serial of the original series in which the Doctor did not travel with a companion (The Deadly Assassin), the return of the Master for the first time since the death of the character's original actor, Roger Delgado, the introduction of Leela, and the overall Gothic ambience of the season which was helped by the introduction of the TARDIS' secondary console room, which would be used in lieu of the traditional console room into the next season. The Deadly Assassin is also notable for being the first of a series of episodes set on Gallifrey which would gradually establish more details about Time Lord culture; these occasional episodes would continue into the 1980s.
