AMNN was an internationally transmitted American cable television news network. One of its frequently seen newscasters was Trinity Wells. (DW: Aliens of London/World War III onwards)

Behind the Scenes

While real-life BBC News personnel, sets and graphics have appeared in the Doctor Who Universe, AMNN is a fictional creation, analogous to CNN. In real life, CNN generally does not allow the use of its name, logo, or personnel in fictional contexts.

AMNN news reports have appeared in the Doctor Who episodess Aliens of London, World War III, The Christmas Invasion, The Sound of Drums, The Poison Sky and The Stolen Earth and in The Sarah Jane Adventures stories Revenge of the Slitheen and Secrets of the Stars. AMNN has not, to date, appeared on Torchwood.

To date the exact meaning of the acronym AMNN has not been spelled out, though presumably the first word is American and the last two News Network. The acronym may mean AMerican News Network.
