Tardis talk:Quote of the Week nominations
Quote questions
With the numbering and formatting, how should we submit quotes in the individual weeks or the unsorted quotes?
May quotes contain dialogue from more than one character?
Must the quote be continuous or can it skip over something relatively brief and irrelevant for purposes of brevity for QotW?--TheOmnius 07:08, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Seeing as there are unsorted quotes, perhaps they should be sorted into their respective weeks, seeing as how they were initially suggested. Trak Nar Ramble on 05:36, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- The unsorted quotes I just copied over from the previous quote of the week page while I was sorting out the various pages.
- As for numbering just use the # symbol at the start of each of the quote nominations so in voting we can just say 'A vote for number 1' etc, rather than having to repeat the quotes and so we can sort it all out easily.
- I think they should be continuous, but I suppose it can be judged on a case by case basis. --Tangerineduel 06:51, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks, that clears up my questions very neatly. Much appreciated, Tangerineduel. (On a side note, do you prefer to be called by the full handle?)--TheOmnius 07:08, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- I don't mind (Tangerine is fine if you don't want to type the extra four characters). I've made a few changes, for spacing and formatting sake, manually numbering is easier than using the # symbol. I've also added a 'how to vote section', just below the nominations section. I'll also be changing the 'unsorted nominations' section to 'Previous Quotes of the Week'.--Tangerineduel 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanksthanks, sounds great.--TheOmnius 15:35, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
Quote of the Week themes
Now that the quote of the week system is up and running I was thinking perhaps planning ahead for the coming weeks with some vague themes. Just so we don't keep getting quotes from one series or whatever. Thoughts? --Tangerineduel 14:40, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm all for that. Perhaps themes like "Davros quotes", "Fourth Doctor quotes", "Audio quotes", "Quotes from obscure sources", to name a few.
- Oh, and since I'm thinking about it right now, perhaps we could also have a QotW archive page? I'll take a quick gander at the one used on Wookieepedia for format and put a test page together tonight. Trak Nar Ramble on 04:24, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Quote of the Week themes - Update
I've introduced themes for the Quote of the Week as the last week or two we've not really had a lot of nominations. I think a theme will give the Quote of the Week something for people to be specific about when choosing a quote. I've added themes for the next couple of weeks on some wide topics; Gallifrey, Torchwood (series), Time travel, Military, Foods and Beverages. Hopefully there should be some fun and interesting results. --Tangerineduel 14:16, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Quote of the Week archive
Alright, I started the basic format for the Archive page and added the past quotes after the policy was implemented.
All it needs is a review, suggestions, further formatting (if needed), and moved (upon which it will get a category). The format was loosely-based on Wookieepedia's QotD archive, only organized primarily by date for now. Until a decision is reached, I will be adding quotes to the subpage archive in order to get into the habit, and because I want to. ^^; Trak Nar Ramble on 01:56, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Looks like a good idea. Though maybe it'd be better as a subpage of the nominations page, rather than of your user page. Or are you using the above page as a trialling ground to make sure it all works? --Tangerineduel 13:06, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- I Like it so far. Also, if we have it then we probably won't need the 'Previous quotes of the week' section on this page as long as we put a link to the archive page on this page. --Bill Odie 18:57, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
