Faster-than-light travel
From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Faster-than-light travel is one of one method of travelling interstellar distances without resorting to relativistic travel or generation starships.
Space travel via spacecraft
One means involving passing a spacecraft through hyperspace (DW: The Stones of Blood), both located outside of spacetime as humans know it. Other technologies include warp drive (DW: The Girl in the Fireplace, etc).
Space travel via space-time vessel
Travel via Time Vortex provides another alternative.
- Virtually every story features the Doctor includes the use of the Time Vortex , the medium through which his TARDIS travels.
Other examples
- The Nestene Consciousness' used warp shunt technology (DW: Rose).
- The superluminal communications and travel technology used by the people of the Arcateen system to transport themselves to Earth. (TW: Greeks Bearing Gifts, SJA: Invasion of the Bane)
- Mary arrived on Earth via a transporation device. Sarah Jane Smith's star poet friend of the same species, arrived on Earth through unspecified means, though we can assume they used much of the same kind of technology.
- Cellular transmission, an experimental 39th century technology designed to transport humans across galaxies by means of a transmat-like interface. )DW: The Daleks' Masterplan).
