Hugues was a parfait living in France.

He asked the Seventh Doctor to help him take a valuable relic to safety. They reached the Knights Templar and turned it over to them. However, they had been followed by the mercenaries of Louis de Citeaux. They killed Hugues. (PROSE: Sanctuary)
