Kate was the best friend of Emma-Louise Cowell in 1953.

Shortly before Emma-Louise was sent through the Cardiff Rift on 18 December 1953, she and Kate went to see the film Calamity Jane in the cinema five times.

After her arrival in 2007, Emma-Louise was upset that she would never see Kate again. (TV: Out of Time)
