Quintus
Quintus Caecilius Iucundus, son of Caecilius and Metella and brother of Evelina, was a young Roman man living in Pompeii in its final days.
Quintus is more willing than the rest of his family to help the strange foreigner who insists that near by Mount Vesuvius is about to erupt and smother Pompeii. At the Doctor's instruction, Quintus kills a Pyrovile that appears in his family's house. Later, against his parents' express wishes, he guides the Doctor to the house of cult leader Lucius Petrus Dextrus.
Though he seems to be a jaded and rebellious youth--performing his religious duties to the family's household gods only under duress--Quintus is secretly concerned for his sister's health. Evelina is suffering from a mysterious ailment due to her inhalation of Pyrovile dust.
Quintus, along with the rest of his family, is saved from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius by the Doctor. Six months later, the Caecilius family is living in Rome and Quintus is studying to become a doctor. He also follow sthe traditions/religion of his family more willingly, as the Caecilius family's new household gods are the Doctor and Donna. (DW: The Fires of Pompeii)
Behind the Scenes
- The Caecilius family (Caecilius, Metella and Quintus) were based upon characters used in Latin textbooks. Except for Evelina who was created by James Moran so she could be a member of the Sibylline Sisterhood.
