Soji was an Atkyan. When the Second Doctor and Jamie McCrimmon first met her, she was very pleasant, and she and Jamie became very close. However, overnight, she seemed to turn against them, hating them and calling them "scum". The Doctor and Jamie learned that the history of Atkya was changing, affecting the behaviour of the Atkyans.
