Geoffrey "Geoff" Noble was Donna Noble's father, Sylvia Noble's husband and the son-in-law of Wilfred Mott.

Biography

After coming home from a football match one day, he uttered, "Veni, vidi, vici". (TV: The Fires of Pompeii)

Geoff was walking his daughter down the aisle during her wedding to Lance Bennett when she unexpectedly disappeared in a burst of golden light. As baffled as anyone else, Geoff took charge of seeing to the injured in the wake of the Robot Santas' attack on the wedding reception. (TV: The Runaway Bride) Geoff ultimately had to pay for the damages done to the venue. (PROSE: Judge, Jury and Executioner)

Sometime afterwards, Geoff encountered the Tenth Doctor and gave him a pound. The Doctor used it to buy a lottery ticket which he gave to Donna as a wedding present. The ticket had the winning numbers in a triple roll-over draw that occurred soon after her wedding, securing her and her new husband's financial future. (TV: The End of Time)

Geoff died on 15 May 2008. Sylvia told her daughter, in May 2009, that she had had a tough year "with [her] Dad". (PROSE: Beautiful Chaos) Geoff and Sylvia had been together for forty years. (AUDIO: Out of this World)

Parallel world

In a parallel world, Geoff died at some point in 2008, the primary reason it had been regarded as a "rough year" for his family. While at a hotel for a Christmas country holiday that year, Sylvia told Donna that her father would have loved the place they were staying in. (TV: Turn Left)

Behind the scenes

  • Howard Attfield was due to reprise his role as Geoff Noble in Series 4, but he died in October 2007. His scenes were refilmed with Bernard Cribbins playing the character of Wilfred Mott, who had already been filmed for the Christmas special, Voyage of the Damned and was subsequently changed to be Donna's grandfather. Attfield's scenes were later included on the DVD release of Series 4.
