Early in his travels with the First Doctor, Ian Chesterton already had a bedroom aboard the TARDIS. It was located in the sleeping quarters.
Ian tried to get some sleep there shortly after leaving Skaro, but a fault with the TARDIS made this difficult, due to the flashing lights it had caused. After a while, he left the room, just as the lights went out for good. (PROSE: The Edge of Destruction)
