According to Dr Liz Shaw, a leprous house was a term from the Bible that described a house where terrible things repeatedly happened. She asked Dr Colin Dove if Hawthorne was one given that reports of strange deaths occurring nearby dated back to the 13th century. Dr Dove told her that it was not just the house - rather, it was the land it was built on, which was in proximity to a reservoir of evil that could use it to control and influence sensitives.
