Rename

Figured I'd start a discussion on this page's rename tag, which appears to have been left up for a very long time.

I agree with what the editor who placed the rename tag suggests: "Asquith Slitheen" is technically a conjectural name, whereas "Asquith (Slitheen)" or "Asquith (Slitheen family)" are not based upon conjecture. Personally, I'd opt for "Asquith (Slitheen)", unless there's a specific requirement for the word "family" to be used. Thalek Prime Overseer 00:10, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

I personally understood the name as being a non-conjectural "the 'Asquith' Slitheen", not as suggesting that we are dealing with a Mr Asquith Slitheen. We could alternatively do "Slitheen Asquith", perhaps. Don't much like the parenthetical options, as they confuse the issue with regards to T:DAB; seeing a page named "Asquith (Slitheen)", my default would be to assume that this is a character who appeared in a story called "Slitheen (TV story)", you see? I don't see. We have a page called Fifth Avenue (Manhattan); are we supposed to assume that there is a story called Manhattan? So there is precedent for what User:Thalek Prime Overseer suggests. Shambala108 01:19, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
Oh, I'm not saying User:Thalek Prime Overseer's suggestions are against policy. Merely that they are potentially confusing, so in my opinion we should prioritise alternatives that don't present this potential for confusion.
(Also, I'm actually unsure why the page you cite isn't Fifth Avenue, Manhattan. Even laying aside the Wiki's dabbing policy, isn't that the usual format for addresses and such? We've got things like Providence, Rhode Island already.) -Scrooge MacDuck 01:25, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
