Kaston Iago
Kaston Iago was an assassin. He was also a fugitive from the interplanetary Federation. He was born on Earth and has variously claimed his real name to be either "Frank Archer" or "Paul Darrow". (AUDIO: Metafiction)
Rebelling against the Federation
After defrauding the Federation bank for either five million or five hundred million, Iago was convicted for embezzlement and sentenced to life imprisonment on a penal planet. Four months into an eight month journey to the planet, he managed to escape from the prison ship along with two fellow prisoners when the ship became involved in a salvage operation to recover an alien spacecraft.
Once in control of the alien spacecraft, Iago, along with his two comrades, set course for the penal planet to rescue additional crew members, arriving three hours later just as the prison ship was docking.
After many adventures with his crewmates, they crash landed their ship on Gauda Prime, where Iago narrowly avoided execution by fifty Federation guards. (AUDIO: Metafiction)
Life on Kaldor
By 2889, he was hiding from the Federation on the planet Kaldor. He committed a series of random murders in Kaldor City so that Kiy Uvanov would hire him as a bodyguard. (AUDIO: Occam's Razor)
Behind the scenes
- It was hinted but not stated officially that Iago was a pseudonym of the Blake's 7 character Kerr Avon. Occam's Razor features several hints that Iago has knowledge and skills possessed by Avon and few others. Taren Capel states that Iago killed the Butcher of Zircaster, the name given in the charity audio The Mark of Kane to Travis, whom Avon killed in Blake's 7.
- The names he claims to be his "real" name in Metafiction are Paul Darrow (the name of the actor who portrays Iago) and Frank Archer (the name of his character in The Time Waster audio play).
