According to one account, in his original incarnation, the Time Lord who would later become the War Chief attended the Prydonian Academy as part of the Deca, under the name of Magnus. (PROSE: Divided Loyalties)
A Magnus not in his first incarnation was documented in other account as an old friends of the First Doctor's with whom he had a falling-out prior to their leaving Gallifrey, (COMIC: Flashback) and who wasted his regenerations too quickly. (PROSE: Invasion of the Cat-People)
