Visual navigation doesn't really work given the multiple formats companions have appeared through (with many not having an image to be used). Also the alive/dead thing, as this wiki is written in the past tense and from a POV from the end of the universe everyone is dead. --Tangerineduel 12:52, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

The alive-dead thing from the POV of the last time the character was seen, as mentioned above the key. I could see good reason for it to be removed however. And I would say that over two thirds of the characters have pictures. A lot of the popular wiki's use a lot more visual navigation than us (Lostpedia, Heroeswiki, Mass Effect Wiki ect.) and I think it makes them a lot easier to navigate than this site. We have actually been through this (more than once) in the past. All your examples have images across their various sources, Doctor Who whoever goes across visual media (TV, comics etc), prose (novels, short stories) and audio (audiobooks, audio dramas, radio plays) so any visual based page will cut out a lot of the companions and other elements that could be included.
Given the amount of information and the various repeating of images (for TV, novel, audio, comic, short story) it would mean a very image heavy page.
