Biography
The creature that came to be known as Jane owed a large time debt to the Time Market. She set herself up as secretary to Vanessa Laing-Rabdall and used a Time Harvester to double back on her own timeline to create the personas of Mr Symington and Mr Blenkinsop. As Symington and Blenkinsop, Jane targeted workers such as Andrew Brown and Sameera Jenkins and offered them Time Harvesters of their own with hefty insurance rates hidden in the fine print. Therefore anyone who used the Time Harvesters for longer than a couple of days would owe more time than a human could possibly pay back.
The Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond first caught onto the scheme after watching Brian Edelman die when he attempted to pay back the hours he owed. Jane tried to cover up her actions by claiming that Edelman had overworked himself. By this point the Time Harvesters had begun to circulate across the Bank and even into the wider world, Symington and Blenkinsop also began doubling back on their own timelines allowing themselves to be in hundreds of places at once. When the Doctor opposed Jane she ordered her army of Symington and Blenkinsop duplicates to kill him, however, he realised that she owed far more time than she could ever find on Earth and offered himself up revealing himself to be a Time Lord with an extended lifespan.
Jane took the Doctor hostage and attempted to auction him off at the Time Market. Amy, Rory, Andrew, Sameera and Nadia Montgomery were able to successfully identify that the glass structure at the Lexington Bank stored all the harvested time energy and upon destroying it Jane lost her abilities to manipulate time. All of her Symington and Blenkinsop duplicates were erased and as such so was most of the work they had done dispensing the Time Harvesters. She attempted to recover by continuing to trade the Doctor off, but he pretended that Jane was lying about him being a Time Lord and the clients at the Time Market believed him as Jane's lies about human lifespans came to light.
As the clients began to sell up their purchases Jane further lost control and faded out of time. However, she survived and before long turned up in 1636 attempting to sell Marieke Jansen a Time Harvester under the new identities of Mr Hoogeveen and Mr Verspronck. (PROSE: Borrowed Time)
