- You may be looking for Alydon (Dr. Who and the Daleks).
Alydon was the leader of the Thals after Temmosus's death.
Biography
Alydon and the rest of the Thals were led by Temmosus to the Dalek City in search of food. He discovered the TARDIS in the petrified jungle and left a case of anti-radiation drugs for its crew. Later, he met Susan Foreman and gave her his cloak and an extra case of the drug.
After Temmosus's murder by the Daleks, Alydon became leader. Despite the Daleks' actions, Alydon refused to wage war due to the effects that war had had on Skaro in the past. The First Doctor and Ian Chesterton orchestrated a ruse in which they threatened to hand over his love, Dyoni, to the Daleks for experimentation, provoking Alydon to fight to protect her. This convinced him to fight the Daleks.
While Ian and Barbara Wright led a party of Thals to find a way into the Dalek city via the water supply, Alydon worked with the Doctor to disable the Daleks' surveillance equipment. Although the Doctor and Susan were captured, their plan worked. The Thals gained entry to the city. They fought the Daleks in a pitched battle that ended in victory for the Thals. After the TARDIS departed, Alydon settled into a life with Dyoni and worked with their people to rebuild Skaro. (TV: The Daleks)
Following the Thal-Dalek battle, Alydon was officially declared High Leader of the Thals. He married Dyoni and had offspring with her before he died. (AUDIO: Return to Skaro)
Legacy
Alydon's legacy lived on in his great-grandson Damadus who also acted as High Leader of the Thals. (AUDIO: Return to Skaro)
Ian and Barbara later named their son John Alydon Ganatus Chesterton in part after the Thals' brave leader. (PROSE: Byzantium!)
Personality
Like the rest of his people, Alydon was a pacifist and hated what violence and war had done to Skaro. However, he learnt that some things were worth fighting for, including the life of a loved one. He found no shame in admitting a fear of death, but considered it shameful to be too afraid to live. (TV: The Daleks)
Appearance
As estimated by Susan, he was about six foot four inches tall and perfectly proportioned, with long fair hair. (PROSE: Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks)
