Biography

Arnold Jellicoe was related to Wendy Jennings. (AUDIO: Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre [+]Loading...["Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre (audio story)"]) According to one account, he worked at Thinktank as Hilda Winters' assistant. (TV: Robot [+]Loading...["Robot (TV story)"]) According to another, he was Thinktank's Public Relations Officer and thus responsible for journalists who visited the organisation. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Giant Robot [+]Loading...["Doctor Who and the Giant Robot (novelisation)"]) He was also a member of the Scientific Reform Society (TV: Robot [+]Loading...["Robot (TV story)"]) and managed to convince Jeremiah Kettlewell to join, (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Giant Robot [+]Loading...["Doctor Who and the Giant Robot (novelisation)"]) although he only went to one meeting.

Jellicoe assisted Miss Winters in her plans for the SRS to steal nuclear codes from the world powers using K1, the prime directive of which he was responsible for adjusting despite his lack of proper training. He and Miss Winters gave the visiting Sarah Jane Smith a tour of Thinktank, during which she intruded in the Robotics section, and he activated K1 to demonstrate that he was harmless when she returned without authorisation. The two of them tried to have K1 kill the Fourth Doctor and retreated from UNIT to a bunker, taking Harry Sullivan as a hostage.

As Miss Winters used the destructor codes, Jellicoe ordered K1 to fight off UNIT with the disintegrator gun and was knocked out by Harry as he held Kettlewell at gunpoint. John Benton got him and Miss Winters out of the bunker (TV: Robot [+]Loading...["Robot (TV story)"]) and the pair were arrested. By 2002, when Miss Winters was released, Jellicoe had died in prison. Legacy

Wendy Jennings sought to avenge Jellicoe by targeting Sarah Jane Smith. (AUDIO: Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre [+]Loading...["Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre (audio story)"])

Personality

Jellicoe was nervous and fussy. Despite being a hard worker, he got on Hilda Winters' nerves. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Giant Robot [+]Loading...["Doctor Who and the Giant Robot (novelisation)"]) Jeremiah Kettlewell denied that he and Winters were scientists and described them as "incompetent nincompoops" (TV: Robot [+]Loading...["Robot (TV story)"]) or "incompetent bunglers". He had sadistic tendencies which only came out after he gained a taste of power. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Giant Robot [+]Loading...["Doctor Who and the Giant Robot (novelisation)"])

Appearance

Jellicoe had blue eyes and thinning fair hair which he combed over a bald patch. Despite being in his late thirties, he wore trendy clothes and looked overdressed as a result. He was stronger than he looked. (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Giant Robot [+]Loading...["Doctor Who and the Giant Robot (novelisation)"])
