Divination Thermometer

The Divination Thermometer or Life Thermometer was an item in Torchwood Three's Restricted Items Archive. The thermometer appeared identical to thermometer's of its kind. However, it only had one list of numbers. Toshiko Sato and Owen Harper argued whether the thermometer registered Celsius or Fahrenheit. Upon placing the Thermometer beneath one's tongue, it would display a number, in Owen's case, a "one." Jack Harkness confiscated the thermometer, privately informing Ianto Jones that the thermometer displayed the years left in a person's life before one's death.
