Alan was a man who lived in London with his wife and children, Catherine and Jonathan. Like his children, Alan had A positive blood, so when the Sycorax used Blood control on A positives on Christmas Day, he too was subjected to their control. The blood control soon shut down, and he regained awareness, along with his children. (DW: The Christmas Invasion)
