The GENIE were a race of small genetically engineered creatures with the power to grant their owner's wishes. In the future, the creatures became common across the world, causing havoc with reality. It was only when the Doctor prevented their creation by sending the first of their kind away to live in peace that the Earth's future was saved, or rather, never became in turmoil.
