Hey guys, just got news that there is a new BBC endorsed 8th Doctor costume on the way and it will be used on Big finish audio covers. There is some rumours that it will be "canonised" by a 8th Doctor tv apperance too. Anyway.. thoughts?

  • I don't think McGann will appear on the show, but possibly an image or such... I'm not to sure to be honest... I don't like it when they change their main style... if it was incorporated into an audio drama rather than just simply switched, then I could work with it... but right now, until they complete it and we get some good, proper images of it... it's a bit.... iffy... --The Thirteenth Doctor 13:44, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
  • I know what ya mean, i still prefer the old one at the mo. Revanvolatrelundar 13:47, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
It's probably just so they can modernise the Eight Doctor novel covers and stuff; Edwardian suits are kinda dated these days. Actually, didn't one of the Eighth Doctor comics have him lose his sonic and coat? Might be tying into that. - I. Am. Excalibur-117-(talkcontribs) 14:10, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
they just got rid of the green coat and replaced with an identical blue one so it was easier on the eyes. Revanvolatrelundar 14:41, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
  • Another negative, sadly. It looks like a leather type of jacket, and rather similar to the ninth Doctor's, which kind of removes the singularity of the Ninth Doctor's outfit... --The Thirteenth Doctor 14:58, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
  • It occurs to me that we'll also have to rearrange the sonic screwdriver page slightly, assuming the new one shown is canonical. - I. Am. Excalibur-117-(talkcontribs) 15:01, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
  • We need to hold out horses with this one. Do nothing until actual BBC confirmation and a better picture of the screwdriver is shown. Revanvolatrelundar 15:16, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
  • In the latest DWM the letter by the editor noted how plans were being drawn up regarding the 50th Anniversary, I wouldn't be suprised if an appearance by the 8th Doctor was on the cards. Would also love it.... Taccer 07 16:05, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
    • Hmm... McGann did ask if he looked as though he would look good running in it and saving the world in it. Perhaps the running was referring to television. I'd love to see him return. --The Thirteenth Doctor 15:43, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
    • Yeah me too, 14 years with only one TV appearance is just wrong... The new sonic being made seems to support a TV appearance because it would be hard to show on an audio cover. Revanvolatrelundar 15:46, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
      • I will tell you what I'd really love to see. The eighth Doctor looses his TARDIS, then has to travel with the eleventh Doctor for half a series... actually, maybe that's what the "game changing revelation" is! --The Thirteenth Doctor 19:49, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
      • would be pretty amazing, but i think the Doctor might just remember travelling with his future self, dont you? :P Revanvolatrelundar 19:52, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
        • Not if the Time War had anything to do with it! --The Thirteenth Doctor 19:53, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
        • true.. true, the thought just crossed my mind that River could actually have known the eighth Doctor and thats the true secret of her past. Revanvolatrelundar 19:58, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
        • Although, he doesn't need to forget it. The fifth continued on fine after he met the tenth. --The Thirteenth Doctor 20:14, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
        • Hmm true, Moffat can do some really good paradoxical stories too (time crash, big bang) so 8 and 11 together really wouldnt be too much of a problem. Revanvolatrelundar 20:31, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

River can't have known the eigth doctor, because the tenth doctor would have remembered her in silence in the library. If they ever did bring McGann back in the TV series, it would be too weird to have an entire season or half season with 2 doctors. If they bring him back in the TV series, it will probably just be for an episode like the multi-doctor episodes in the classic series. What would be cool, would be if they made another TV movie, set during the Eigth Doctor's time, before he regenerated into the ninth.Icecreamdif 23:26, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

  • Pre-title Scene: A lone Tardis, flying through the timestream. All of a sudden, a fully weaponized Dalek ship appears reight behind it. It fires; the Tardis is clearly hit. It jumps out of the time stream, then proceeds to spiral through empty space. Cut to the inside, with a beaten, mad, wildly grinning man at the console. He presses a button. Cut to the inside of 11's Tardis. A similar button lights up. He looks at it, looks at the screen... and realizes he'll need to interfere with his Time War self's reality if he wants to exist... Now the music starts...

Tat wouldn't really work, the war's time-locked.Icecreamdif 04:39, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Tell that to Dalek Caan. And Davros. And Rassilon. --The Thirteenth Doctor 11:35, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
Don't forget the Advocate. Revanvolatrelundar 15:43, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
Well technically if they really wanted 11 to enter the time war they could do it, but it is unlikely. Davros and Rassillon were only able to escape with help from Caan and the Master, and Rassilon only escaped for about 5 minutes. The only person to break into the time war without help was Caan, and it cost him his sanity. For Rassilon to break out it involved an elaborate plan involving the drumming in the master's head. If all you had to do was press a button on the TARDIS console to escape the war, everyone would have left. Eleven wouldn't want to return to the time war on purpose, and if he met the eight doctor it would be against the first law of time(though it wouldn't be the first time he broke that law.Icecreamdif 19:05, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
  • I, for one, dig the hell out of the idea of revamping Eight's look. I always thought one of the least fortunate things about the Eight!verse is the fact that we never got to see what he would have worn on the second day of his life! Surely he wouldn't still be wearing a costume stolen from a morgue attendant. Behind the scenes, since the selection of publicity shots was so limited, poor Eight only has about five poses with three facial expressions for all his cover photos ever. McGann still looks the part, and unlike the rest of the Doctors we did not see how old he looked when he regenerated so there is no reason not to at least take new photos for Big Finish; even better, the powers that be won't have to pay Fox/Universal for the rights to them. As yet another bonus, perhaps McGann's Doctor can finally have hair that's not a wig he hates. XD As for the costume itself, I'll reserve judgement since it's a work in progress, though I do think that's a lovely sonic. Rob T Firefly 23:50, October 26, 2010 (UTC)
