Rangorr was a Brainleader of the Kreech who waited to find an intelligent mind to take his place so that he could leave his responsibilities for the colony and go travelling amongst the stars. Rangoor believes he has found a replacement when the Doctor is captured but, the Doctor manages to escape during a contest to find the cleverest when Rangoor is distracted by a crossword puzzle.
