Joy was an American who worked in the White House. Upon emerging from a toilet cubicle, she sighted one of the Silence. She considered its face to be a Star Trek mask. When she looked away, she forgot what she had seen. However, she then looked again and repeated her actions. The Silence killed her with an electrical discharge from its hand. The Silent later told Amy her name was Joy.(DW: The Impossible Astronaut)
