Waterloo was a province in Belgium. Napoléon Bonaparte's French empire was defeated in a battle there and it was a major turning point of the war. The Fourth Doctor referred the Sontaran defeat as "their Waterloo". (DW: The Sontaran Experiment) Arthur Wellesley was the British commander in the battle and fought alongside Oliver Blazington.
