There exists a real-world binary star called Gamma Delphini; it is a binary star in the wikipedia:Delphinus constellation, very close to the celestial equator. Its components, Gamma1 Delphini and Gamma2 Delphini, are, respectively, an F Class (brighter and hotter than Earth's Sun) and a K Class (dimmer and redder than Earth's Sun).

In-universe, Gamma Delphinius is a double star; Gamma1 Delphinius and Gamma2 Delphinius are both G Class stars. The system has at least four planets; at least one of them, Beta Caprisis, was home to an Earth colony in the 26th century.
