Donna's World was a rewritten version of the timeline created when Donna Noble turned right instead of left while deciding which of two different job interviews to attend.

This name is strictly conjectural.

Background

While on the planet Shan Shen, Donna Noble was unknowingly fitted with a time beetle, part of the Trickster's Brigade. A fortune teller selected a point in her life where making seemingly random choice had enormous ramifications.

In June 2007 Donna had to make a choice between two jobs. The moment she chose between the jobs was at a junction. Her agency had offered her a contract with H.C. Clements, which while temporary, was posh and in the centre of London, which Donna enjoyed. Her mother, Sylvia Noble, had managed to get her another job opportunity to become the personal secretary of Jival Chowdry, owner of a photocopying business. Although this would be a permanent job, Donna found it less interesting.

While driving and in discussing the dilemma, Sylvia pressured her into "turning right" to stop by Jival Chowdry for a chat. While in the regular timeline Donna ignored her mother and turned left, in this timeline she turned right, resulting in her taking the PA job.

UNIT and Rose Tyler sent Donna back to the time where the worlds split. To make her past self turn left, she headed from her landing location to the road where her past self was in her car. Running out of time, Donna jumped out in front of a lorry. Although she died, a traffic jam quickly blocked the route right from the past Donna, so the past Donna chose to turn left. (DW: Turn Left)

Timeline

2007

December

December 25: The Doctor tracks down the Empress of the Racnoss to the Torchwood Institute base underneath the Thames Barrier and destroys it, flooding it with water. Although the Empress of the Racnoss and her offspring drown, the Doctor is unable to escape and dies before he can regenerate. The Doctor's corpse and the TARDIS is salvaged from under the Thames and sent to a UNIT base in Leeds, just as Donna Noble arrives on the scene. Rose Tyler, not realizing Donna's significance, shows up just after UNIT have left.

In the original timeline, Donna saved the Doctor's life when she told him to stop after the Doctor blows up the Torchwood base. Neither Donna nor the Doctor knew, presumably, that if he stayed, the Doctor would die. (DW: The Runaway Bride)

2008

April

The Judoon H2O Scoop the Royal Hope Hospital to the Moon to find the Plasmavore criminal. The Plasmavore had already armed the MRI before her execution. Sarah Jane Smith, Luke Smith, Maria Jackson and Clyde Langer managed to disarm the device to save Earth, but died along with the rest of the hospital when the oxygen ran out. The only survivor was Oliver Morgenstern who was passed the last oxygen tank by Martha Jones who died.

In the original timeline, the Doctor investigates the hospital instead of Sarah Jane, Luke, Maria and Clyde under the alias "Mr Smith" and no-one suffocates because he found the Plasmavore in time. Shortly after, he would take on Martha Jones as a companion. (DW: Smith and Jones)'

Date unknown

Rose Tyler meets Donna once more and advises her to go on holiday for Christmas rather than at their home in London.

December

December

December 25: As Donna, her mother and grandfather have gone on holiday, [Titanic (spaceship)|an alien replica of the RMS Titanic]] crash-lands onto Buckingham Palace, destroys the greater London area and irridiates southern Engalnd. (DW: Turn Left)

Originally, this crisis was averted thanks to the Doctor. Although the city was nearly abandoned in the main timeline, this seems not to be the case here. (DW: Voyage of the Damned)

2009

The United States promises fifty billion pounds in financial help for Great Britain but the plan has to be abandoned when sixty million Americans were fully converted into Adipose children.

In the original timeline, the plan was stopped before it was put in full swing thanks to the Doctor and Donna. (DW: Partners in Crime) The change in location was probably due to the crisis in South England.

The Sontarans activate the ATMOS devices in the cars to convert Earth into a breeding ground. Although Jack Harkness is stranded on the Sontaran homeworld, Sontar, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones give their lives to revert the atmosphere to its previous state and destroy the Sontaran flagship. Rose Tyler appears for a third time and tells Donna this, warns of an even greater threat, and says that she will return in three weeks.

In the original timeline, the Sontaran Invasion of Earth was prevented by the Doctor, Donna, Martha Jones and UNIT. The Doctor was able to clear the atmosphere without the assistance (or sacrifice) of any Torchwood members. (DW: The Sontaran Stratagem/The Poison Sky In the Donna's World timeline as well as the main one, Owen Harper and Toshiko Sato have already died.

Three weeks later, as Donna and her grandfather stargaze, Rose returns and escorts Donna to the makeshift UNIT time machine so that the latter can repair the damage to the timeline.

Behind the Scenes

  • It is not actually a parallel world since the walls between realities were sealed in Doomsday. This was made explicit by the production team.
  • The Doctor and Donna participated in adventures in Donna's past, as well, as seen (in The Fires of Pompeii and The Unicorn and the Wasp, among other instances. Turn Left does not mention these adventures or explain how the timeline might have gotten changed if they had not gone through with these events
