"Stork babies" was the term used by the Newgate Prison wardens to refer to the thieves who were occasionally found tied to the prison railings with no memory of how they got there. They in fact were placed there by Aldridge, who would put would-be-thieves to sleep with his bristles. (PROSE: A Big Hand for the Doctor)
