Marcus was a slave in Rome, owned by Aullus. During Saturnalia, Marcus was controlled by the god Saturn, who wanted to be free of his imprisonment. Marcus killed his master while under Saturn's control. However, as the Seventh Doctor told Ace, he would still be executed for this act. (PROSE: The Best of Days)
