Ravolox was the name used for Earth 2,000,000,000 years in the future. The Time Lords moved the solar system, including Earth, two light years through space when a fireball hit 500 years. A tribe of humans lived in what used to be the London Underground, ruled by Drathro (DW: The Mysterious Planet, DW: The Ultimate Foe).

In the prophecy of the Vampire Messiah also used the name Ravolox for Earth. (MA: Goth Opera).

This was at least the second time that the Earth had been forcably relocated; it also occurred in the early 21st century (DW: The Stolen Earth).

Behind the scenes

  • The End of the World, which takes place in the year 5,000,000,000, depicts Earth as once again orbiting its original sun and once again known as Earth, suggesting that at some point the planet was relocated to its original position and given back its original name. This may have been done in the wake of the events of The Ultimate Foe. Or, possibly, the events surrounding its movement were undone in the Time War. Journey's End reveals that a single TARDIS, operating at full power and in conjunction with the Rift, is capable of moving the planet. In the Doctor Who Unbound story He Jests at Scars... Mel is told the Earth was put back and all the lives were restored.
  • Gallifrey itself was relocated, ironically close to the Earth, in DW: (The End of Time)
