Astronomer Royal was a position at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London. The position was held by both Neville Plumstead and, during the 1890s, Jasper Eagleton. After Plumstead and Eagleton's deaths, Charlotte Mayfly applied for a position as the assistant to the Astronomer Royal.
