Professor Kelly was a scientist. In an alternate timeline, he developed time travel by studying Dalek technology left at Coal Hill School in 1963. This took over forty years to do. The First Doctor travelled back there and transported it all away, preventing the timeline from being created. (PROSE: The Time Travellers)
