Monster File: The Trickster's Brigade was the eleventh story in the in universe Monster Files. It was presented by John Barrowman in-character as Captain Jack Harkness.

A Torchwood file reads "Time Shift Occurrence" and states there is "Evidence of Phantasmagoria".
In London, a man in a top hat and cane retrieves a parcel from his doorstep. He goes inside, lights a candle, and opens the parcel on his carpet. Inside is a letter from someone from Torchwood with a name starting with "Ja", stating that the "following items" had been delivered to them, and that they would be pleased if the man would "conclude on their origin". They further state that given the high levels of phantasmagoria, they would be grateful for the help.
The man finds The Trickster's Brigade inside, a board game with several spaces depicting The Trickster, the Graske, and a Time Beetle. As the man plays the game, Jack Harkness theorises about how what is colloquially known as the Trickster's Brigade go about their business, stating that "no one knows" if there even is a Trickster. He thinks about whether the Brigade have a purpose, or are simply having fun at random by taking potential energy from what if events. He explains the Time Beetle, stating that "once they take you back to that key moment, they have you." He says that most people who get caught don't need to worry, as the changes to their lives are too tiny to notice, but sometimes the changes are bigger and deeper. Furthermore, he talks about one person who had to die to get their life back, though says it's just a story, but tells his audience to choose wisely and watch their back.
The man notices that a Time Beetle is on his back; he panics, and disappears before his candle goes out, seemingly on its own. The transmission ends.
