A refrigerator, also known as a fridge, was an appliance for preserving organic material by keeping it cold.

Fridges were not yet invented in Roman times. While in a Roman villa in 64, Barbara Wright jokingly told Ian Chesterton there was ice in the fridge. Ian started looking for the fridge before realising what Barbara had said.
