Shaba was a planet visited by the First Doctor and his companions before he travelled with Steven Taylor. It was "close by" to Refusis II.
The Doctor remembered it as "not a friendly place" as even before the TARDIS landed they were attacked by rocket devices that locked onto the ship's heat emission. They managed to duck and weave, turning one rocket against another. (PROSE: The Ark)
