Singular vs plural[[edit source]]

Yes, I was thinking whether the singular should be used. Here is why I chose the plural.

1a: a drop of clear saline fluid secreted by the lacrimal gland and diffused between the eye and eyelids to moisten the parts and facilitate their motion

b tears plural: a secretion of profuse tears that overflow the eyelids and dampen the face

2 tears plural: an act of weeping or grieving broke into tears

3: a transparent drop of fluid or hardened fluid matter (such as resin)Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition of "tear" [src]

Two of the meanings only apply to to the plural form. The story from which I was creating the page specifically mentions "lachrymatory secretions" (meaning 1b). Thus, I chose the plural form that collects more meanings and covers the intended one. Another possibility would be to move the page to Lachrymatory secretion, which is supported by the text, but I am not particularly fond of this option. Amorkuz 16:53, October 19, 2017 (UTC)
