Talk:Van Statten Incident

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Prop Delete[[edit source]]

Rationale[[edit source]]

See Talk:Skirmish at Tranquil Repose. This is flatly absurd. This kind of article needs to be rooted out of this wiki. Except in very rare cases articles should not be created for events or things that have no names. Battles in particular do not deserve their own names/pages unless the name is given in a primary source.

For Deletion[[edit source]]

  • CzechOut | 06:31, 29 July 2008 (UTC), per arguments at cited Talk Page.

Against Deletion[[edit source]]

  • The evil dude - Another crucial event, even if it was in secret. It was a one-sided battle obviously, but nonetheless a battle. Sure, it hasn't been named, but things don't have names we name 'em. Its what the human race do.
But generally names should be of use to other people. Since the name of van Staton's company is not made explicit through dialogue, most regular users wouldn't have the foggiest idea about how to search for an article like this, provided they were even looking in the first place. It's a one-link-from-stale page that links to your user page and one other article. It doesn't even link to the page for the story which featured it, nor even to GeoComTex. Of course you're arguing for preserving it. You created it. I know it's painful when we put a lot of work into something and someone else calls for its deletion. And believe me, I'm not trying to pick on you. But the fact is, this article isn't really serving a purpose on this wiki that couldn't be handled by the main episode page. • Tangerineduel 18:07, 29 July 2008 (UTC) As there's not ambiguous point in between against and for, I'm adding here. A merger would be better than a delete. The information of Dalek should be represented from a non-Dalek perspective in an article if not on a 'battle of ---' page then on the GeoComTex article or elsewhere. Or / as well the article needs a big re-write as many of the setences read like dialogue rather than an encyclopaedic entry.

Decision[[edit source]]

Prop delete has been removed, however a cleanup tag has been added as article needs a bit of rewriting and editing. Discussion on the name can continue without the prop delete tag. --Tangerineduel 15:24, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
