Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
- a list of people whose job it is to help you
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:
Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:Thanks for becoming a member of the TARDIS crew! Returnedit source
I was looking through some old talk pages and I saw your name crop up and it struck me I haven't seen you edit in a while?
Are you going to come back and edit here? You were a good editor :).
If you were to come back I'd advise you read through the Tardis Manual, just so your are up to date with the policies etc. Hope to see you editing again soon! MM/Want to talk? 16:29, May 9, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks :) I've been a little busy for a while, I try to fit in as many time as I can on Wikia though, just not always on here! I remember you Mitch :P I can try an be a bit more active if that will help ;) --Ghastly9090 17:32, May 14, 2013 (UTC)
Nameedit source
Please make a request of Wikia, through Special:Contact, to formally move your name to Ghastly9090 or return to using GhastlyKhaos. It is confusing in the extreme that you have merely redirected to user:Ghastly9090, a user page you have created for a name that does not exist. Per T:MISLEAD USER, you are not allowed to "create confusion with your username", which this is certainly doing.
Since User talk:Ghastly9090 is not a genuine user talk page, you may not be receiving message alerts when messages are placed there, so in addition to being contrary to user page policy you are deliberately impeding communication with you.

- I was never aware of any issue - I changed my username about a year ago using proper Wikia protocol, I'm not trying to create confusing nor deliberately impede communication with myself. My old name used to be Ghastly9090, and I changed to GhastlyKhaos sometime around June last year I believe. I will repeat that I was never aware of any issue that came about with my name change - may I ask what the issue itself actually is? Was it a problem with my signature? I have never received any "complaints" about my name change before, in the year that I have been called GhastlyKhaos, so to be honest I'm unsure what to make of this. Please can you let me know what the actual issue is, because I'm not sure how I'm causing any problems, all you have done is told me that my username is causing confusion. Ghastly9090 14:06, November 24, 2013 (UTC)
- We've already talked about most of these issues in chat, but just to sum up: your name wasn't ever properly moved by user:Wikia, so your old user and user talk pages (user:Ghastly9090 and User talk:Ghastly9090) are "stranded" from your actual, current user name. Since you never updated your Special:Preferences, your signature was still pointing to user talk:Ghastly9090, so I rather suspect there are a ton of messages there you were never notified about.
- So, while we wait for Wikia to respond to the Special:Contact you should have sent today, we're going to change your signature into something that will work across the entire Wikia network, but will have added benefits when you're on a wiki you care about enough to put some signature templates onto.
- Here's what to do:
- Open Special:Preferences. Concentrate on the part of that opening page that looks like this:
-
- In the Signature line, copy and paste the following text:

- Ensure that Custom signaure is checked
- Save
- This will make it so that no matter where you are on the entire Wikia network, you'll have a valid signature. If you're on a wiki where the following templates exist, you'll get a signature that will be styled like the templates say. If you're on a wiki without those templates, you'll get a plain signature, but one that has all the links that'll make it easy for people to talk to you. Here are the templates you'll have to put on every wiki where you want a "fancy" signature to appear:
- Note that from now on, if you're on this wiki (or anywhere that you have these two templates enabled, you'll sign with three tildes (~~~). If you're on a wiki where these templates don't exist, you still sign with four tildes. Please let me know if you have any problems.

Christmas cheeredit source
As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.
This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!
We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.
2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!
