TVOntario is a Canadian broadcasting network that airs arts and education progamming within the province of Ontario. In the 1970s and 1980s, it aired specially edited episodes of Doctor Who, with introductory narration by Howard da Silva added to each episode in order to recap the storyline so far. In addition, noted science fiction author Judith Merril introduced a number of episodes and discussed the science fiction themes therein.

TVOntario's broadcasts ended in the 1980s as more Ontario viewers began watching unaltered versions of the episodes via Public Broadcasting Service affiliates in the United States that began to be received in Canada via cable television. Some of da Silva's recaps and narration have been included as bonus features on some DVD releases of Tom Baker-era episodes.
