Story notes
- This episode will mark Doctor Who's 200th story.
- This is the 50th episode of the revived series to be filmed. (Can anyone explain how?, I make it 52.) It was the 50th to be filmed, it isn't the 50th broadcast episode. You have to remember that the episodes weren't filmed in order of broadcast. So, this one was filmed before an episode that has already been broadcast. That is why it is the 50th, not 52nd. Also, if you're talking about filming, you could be couting the two Children in Need specials, which aren't actually counted as full episodes and part of the filming for the series.
- Donna will be largely absent as Catherine Tate was filming Turn Left.
- This is a Donna-Lite episode
- The Last time the Doctor was on a shuttle bus was in the episode The Greatest Show in the Galaxy
- The Doctor mentions the Lost Moon of Poosh, one of the six planets Russell T Davies said would be mentioned throughout Series 4.

Rumours
- It will include a shuttlebus crash (as shown in trailer).
- This episode focuses on the Doctor who is scared by the knocking on the wall; possibly the sound of drums that The Master heard. A possible refernce to the woman who took the Master's ring at the end of "Last of the TimeLords".
- The Doctor will disapear at the end of the episode making Turn Left a Doctor-lite episode when Donna Noble gets help from a girl believed to be lost for ever-Rose Tyler. Unlikely as the Doctor and Donna end up on the planet "Shan Shen" at the beginning of Turn Left.
- It will be one of the "Darkness Episodes", which is a theory that there will be a long stretch of episodes from Silence in the Library to the end of the series, all focusing on darkness. It is also viewed by some as the Series Arc. This was highlighted in a "Reaction Video" on Youtube, called "Rosiannas Reaction". This is also drawn from the "The stars are going out"(Wilf) and "It's coming, the darkness"(Rose) quotes on the mid-season trailer.
- Billie Piper will make an appperance as Rose Tyler, because she is credited in the Radio Times. (This may just be in the 'Next time' trail.)

Continuity
- 'Pools of diamonds and golden lakes' were mentioned about the leisure planet Midnight - and diamonds was last referred to in Last of the Time Lords, when Creet (as a Human and aToclafane) says: My mum told me the skies are made of diamonds and The skies were not made of diamonds
