The Doctor and Martha are following alien robbers with plans for the Earth in the past, present and future …

Summary

Following the alien teleport to its secret lair, the Doctor and Martha find themselves on a neutral space capsule. Big Yedari (one of the most wanted crime lords in future history) is attempting to choose between two alien gangs of Verx and Alsh to rob Earth of its treasures throughout time. The two gangs have engaged in a contest to prove which is the more successful. Unfortunately the Doctor’s interference has ruined the contest.

The Doctor creates a disturbance by convincing Big Yedari that he was double-crossed by the Alsh leader. While the aliens fight amongst themselves, the Doctor and Martha, steal one of the teleporting device and seal themselves in the control centre. The Doctor seals off the capsule, disables all the remaining teleporting devices, sets the docked craft loose, traps the aliens and Big Yedari, teleport across to the Yedari ship and sends a message to the nearest space cops before teleporting to Earth to collect the TARDIS.

  • Big Yedari – one of the universes most wanted crime lords. Green, reptillian, humanoid, with blue eyes, a cigar smoking gangster, with pincer like hands.
  • Alsh – Green humanoid creatures with bulbous, yellow eyes set in an elongated oval face.
  • Verx - Four armed, four fingered, green humanoids with red eyes and prominent cranial structures with full sided ears.

Notes

  • Supporting the series of collectable Doctor Who trading cards, the magazine carried a regular four page, individually titled comic strip of the Tenth Doctor’s adventures.
  • The artwork and colours were bold and bright, reflecting the tone of the magazine and, as did Doctor Who Adventures, reflected the appeal to readers younger than those catered to by Doctor Who Magazine.

References

  • The Battles in Time comic strip sought to reinforce the association of its Doctor with the one seen on screen with ‘props’ from the TV series: blue/brown suit, sonic screwdriver, psychic paper and his intelligent glasses.
