Africa was an Earth continent. It is home to lots of animals including elephants, giraffes, zebras, gorillas, rhinoceroses, monkeys, camels, buffaloes, crocodiles, chameleons, leopards, and lions. It was the ancestral of the mammoth and the human.

The First Doctor claims in Planet of Giants (TV story) that he has never visited Africa, though in The Chase he accidentally visits Ghana without realising it.
