Channing was an Auton henchman who lead the attempted Auton attack on planet Earth in Spearhead from Space. He had taken over a plastics factory and set it to build autons into the products whilst getting rid of all the other employees. Channing was killed by the Third Doctor in the same episode when he and Liz Shaw killed the Nestene Consciousness. How he got on Earth, taken over the factory, and knowning of the Doctor's presence on Earth on that episode is unknown.
