Talk:Clara (The Snowmen)

Discussion page

Minor points

There are a couple of things I confused about here.

1) The name? Where does her name come from? Clara is what the Doctor think she is called - he thinks Clara and Oswin are the same - and we split the articles. This article should be renamed.

2) 21st century. This is speculation. There is nothing in the episode to say what date is it is. This has to be removed.

3) The page should really not have (modern terms) as the dab terms. Firstly what are modern times? Modern refers to 'now' and will change as time goes on - so modern times is something that should never be used. Secondly, it should be 'Unnamed girl (The Snowmen)'. I didn't make this page, but the name comes from the fact that Sophie Sheen-Miller's character is credited as "Clara's Friend" and she never appears with Victorian Clara, only dressed in comteporary clothing with JLC's third character. 75.141.226.87talk to me 21:33, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
Ahh, Clara's friend, of course. I forgot about that. However, the other two points still stand. The page should be 'Clara (The Snowmen)', since the other Clara has a last name. MM/Want to talk? 21:37, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
Fair enough. I chose "21st century" because that was the least speculatory. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 21:44, December 28, 2012 (UTC)
Agreed about the other points. Clara (The Snowmen) makes sense and as for the 21st century, all we have to go by are their clothes, but Rory wore "modern" clothes when he was Angeled back to the 1930s and Martha wore modern clothes when she met Shakespeare, so they don't prove much. 75.141.226.87talk to me 21:46, December 28, 2012 (UTC)

Clara Oswald

Her name's Clara Oswald, it says so in the "Coming Soon" trailer near the end, the Doctor says "Clara Oswald, it's time to find out who you are. [1] Should the title of the article be changed to reflect this?

No. That's considered a spoiler according to our spoiler policy. Trailers are considered spoilers. SmallerOnTheOutside 01:14, December 31, 2012 (UTC)
No, according to Tardis:Spoiler policy, information from trailers/previews cannot be put on in-universe pages. Shambala108 01:13, December 31, 2012 (UTC)
Oh. You beat me to it. Again. SmallerOnTheOutside 01:15, December 31, 2012 (UTC)

Speculation

"She was one of the three known people who the Eleventh Doctor claimed were one and the same, along with Clara Oswald and Oswin Oswald." - Surely this is speculative. At no point has the Eleventh Doctor seen or referred to this Clara in The Snowmen     ǝsʞpɐןǝ  (talk page)  13:20, 9 January 2013

He says that she must exist. Then we see she does. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 13:45, January 9, 2013 (UTC)

Name of the character.

The name of the character:

According to the new Doctor Who episode (The Bells of St John) which was shown today, this woman is truly Clara Oswald (she didn't know the name, "Oswin" before the Doctor mentioned it, so she shouldn't be considered Clara Oswin Oswald, just Clara Oswald, so I believe that this page should be just Clara Oswald, whilst the Victorian Clara should be Clara Oswin Oswald. What do you think?

I'm in agreement with this. Oswin only relates to Oswin Oswald and Clara Oswin Oswald, not this Clara. Mewiet 23:40, March 30, 2013 (UTC)
I propose Oswin Oswald, Clara Oswald (The Snowmen) and Clara Oswald (The Bells of Saint John). And Clara Oswald (The Bells of Saint John: A Prequel). Anyways, as this concerns four different pages, this should be brought to the Panopticon. In fact, in this thread, we're discussing a possible merge.

Is there a particular reason we can't use simply Oswin Oswald, Clara Oswin Oswald, and Clara Oswald for the Asylum, Snowmen, and Saint John Oswalds respectively? There are only three (thus far), and they all go by distinctly different names. d 02:04, March 31, 2013 (UTC)
There are actually 4, plus a DAB page. Besides, Clara Oswin Oswald was still known as "Clara Oswald", so we still need the DAB to avoid comfusion. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 05:16, March 31, 2013 (UTC)
It seems the implication of the prequel was to establish that to be the same Clara as in the episode proper, also COO specifically had all three names on her tombstone, while 2013 Clara Oswald was fairly insistent that she was "just" Clara Oswald, not Clara Oswin Oswald. d 05:19, March 31, 2013 (UTC)
I agree with this, too: it is practical, it does make sense and above all it is consistent with what - so far! - we know of this girl... Just to be clear, the hypothesis I am referring is OO for AOTD, COO for TS and CO for TBOSJ; the last could even be Clara "Oswin" Oswald, since she chooses it herself as a user name but I do not think we can be sure about this, so her name should reamin Clara Oswald. What do you think? --Tito Plauto 13:28, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

Wh-what? No look, the names we have choosen have been picked for very certain reasons to make the articles different from each other name wise... These un-dabed names just don't work! OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 17:14, March 31, 2013 (UTC)
