Welcome to the Tardis:About Stickfiddler

Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! —  you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes like this:

Spoiler policy

Hi! The article you added and the picture you uploaded have been deleted.

The article is a violation of Tardis:Spoiler policy. Please take some time to read this policy. Because you are new to the wiki, you will not be blocked for this violation.

The image violated several policies. If you wish to upload images to the wiki in the future, please take a look at Thread:148148, where you can find the majority of our image policies in one convenient location.

Thanks! Shambala108 19:30, April 25, 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, as I said in the other message I was not aware. Thanks! I don't really agree with that rule however, is there any room here to discuss that and suggest change? No offense intended.--Joe the Stickfiddler (A Stickfiddler's Message Wall) 19:32, April 25, 2014 (UTC)
No offense taken. Most new users are opposed to the spoiler policy until they learn more about it.
We have a spoiler policy for two main reasons:
  • We want everyone to be able to edit on this wiki, and for that to happen, we don't allow spoilers. We don't want to take the tone that some websites have — "if you don't want spoilers, then you should stay away from the site." We are specific about spoilers: a spoiler only counts if the story has not been released.
  • Everyone makes mistakes, including news sources, and people lie, including showrunners, actors, etc. If we created articles for future stories based on what someone tells us "is going to happen", and they are wrong or lying, we have to change/remove the info. This can be a tedious job, and we avoid it by not including anything in articles unless it has already happened. (For an example of this situation, you might be interested in reading this discussion — it shows what happens when we create articles based on supposed upcoming events.)
Thanks for reading this long post, and I hope it explains our policy a little better. Shambala108 02:46, April 26, 2014 (UTC)
