It's never explicitly said that 'The Preachers' were the ones to come up with so called energy blasters. Pete says something about their own version of Torchwood (the Preachers were the Rickey's gang rather than the Torchwood equivalent). Also the weapons gave as good as they got, they didn't disable the Daleks' weapons. Also were they ever even called 'energy blaster'? --Tangerineduel 15:21, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
- They did disable the Daleks weapons temporarily in Doomsday (when the Cybermen and Preachers allied to attack the Daleks), and the Doctor enhcnaed them to penetrate a Dalek shield. The name comes from the Doctor Who: The Visual Dictionary. The evil dudeArnie 15:23, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I'm on a weapons obsession right now... but "energy blaster" is awfully generic. Maybe "Preacher's energy blaster" or "Anti-Cyberman Energy Blaster?"
