Herman Hollerith was an inventor.
He worked for the United States Patent Office in the late 19th century. He developed a prototype calculating machine. In an alternate timeline created by the Oracle, his machine was smashed and his wife killed in 1884. He was framed for the murder, thus delaying technological advances that would have otherwise taken place. (PROSE: The Domino Effect)
