Florence Dell was chief of security on board the Pollyanna. At the age of eighteen, she joined the Arcturus Pride, and at twenty, she made squad leader. One morning, her patrol was "ripped to pieces" when they walked into a fusion trap in the Venezuelan wastes. She was the sole survivor.
While on board the Pollyanna, she escorted the stowaway Clara Oswald to see the boss, Rudy Zoom. Upon hearing of a temperature spike in the plasma lab from Captain Dhawan, Florence took Wright and Jordache with her to see if there were more stowaways. She questioned the Twelfth Doctor on how many stowaways were on board, and was snuck up from behind and killed by one of the Umbra as it fed on her guilt. When she died, the Umbra "ate" her form.
