1918 was the year of a major flu epidemic, (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp; AUDIO: The White Room) which carried over to 1919. (PROSE: The Clockwise Man) Colonel Hugh Curbishley caught it, and was "never the same" again. (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp)

Gerald Carter and Harriet Derbyshire investigated a temporal phenomenon for Torchwood Three in Cardiff. A future version of Tommy Brockless told them to freeze his present self in the hospital to be awakened later. The future Tommy, his mind in shell shock, returned to this time not long after, with Toshiko Sato reminding him from 2008 to turn the "rift key" he had been given to stop the two time zones from collapsing on one another. (TV: To the Last Man)

The Eighth Doctor visited the North Yorkshire village of Hawkswick. On 19 March, John Sykes was murdered. (PROSE: Casualties of War)

On 11 November, World War I ended with Armistice Day. (AUDIO: The White Room)

In the United Kingdom, certain women over thirty gained the right to vote in the aftermath of World War I. (AUDIO: The Suffering)
